Room makeover: art that pulls a room together
The quickest room makeover doesn't involve paint or furniture: it's the walls. The right art pulls a room's colours together and gives it a point of view, often for less than a new cushion cover.
Here's where to start, room by room.
Living room: one statement
Pick one statement piece and let the room follow it. Our velvet-sofa animals are made for this: a cheetah or white tiger lounging on a velvet sofa gives the room a colour story to borrow from for cushions and throws.
Bedroom: soft and calm
Bedrooms want quieter art: cherry blossom, a dreamy sunset over the sea, a Japanese garden. Hang a pair above the bed, centred, with 2 to 3 in between.
Kitchen and bar cart: have fun
The kitchen and the bar cart can take the boldest pieces in the house: mirror-ball fruit, champagne oysters, a "press for champagne" button.

Animals in bubble baths, a llama by the pool in Palm Springs, a giraffe in the tub: these are the prints children point at every time.

Lay the frames out on the floor first, or tape paper templates to the wall. Keep the gaps even (2 to 3 in), centre the group at about 57 to 60 in from the floor, and mix sizes rather than shapes.
Every download comes in every common print shape, so you can print one piece large and its neighbours smaller while they still line up.
Questions
- How do I make over a room on a budget?
- Start with the walls: one statement piece in the living room, a calm pair above the bed, and fun prints in the kitchen and bathroom. Downloads are the cheapest way, and buying several saves up to 50%.
- How high should I hang art?
- Centre it about 57 to 60 in (145 to 152 cm) from the floor, or 8 to 10 in (20 to 25 cm) above a sofa or sideboard.
